Settings:
The SlipStream Accelerator has a few more advanced features not enabled by default that we recommend enabling. To work with any
SlipStream options, right click the SlipStream icon in your system tray, and you'll see this menu. All of the various options are accessible here: Stopping and Starting SlipStream, configuring the pop-up blocker, and changing general settings. You can also click on "Statistics..." to view how effective the program is at making your Internet connection faster.

 |
|
Image Quality:
When you click on settings you'll see the main options screen, containing the Image Quality and Features tabs. The Image Quality tab allows you to adjust how much compression is used on images. If you are unhappy with the quality of images, adjust this slider to the right. If you want more performance, adjust it to the left.

| |
|
|
|
| |
Features:
Within the features tab there are three options which can help to
improve the performance of your dialup connection: Macromedia Flash
compression, in-page advertisement blocking, and POP3 acceleration.
We recommend enabling all three features to provide the most
increase in connection performance. As with the images, by enabling
Macromedia Flash compression you will see some loss in quality for
Flash objects.

| |
Options:
By clicking on the "Pop-Up Blocker" at the main menu, the built in
pop-up blocker can be enabled, as well as setting two optional
features: "Block floating Flash-Ads" and "Notify blocked pop-up by
PC speaker beep". Also, the "White List" tab allows you to exclude
sites from the pop-up blocker as you deem fit. To enable the pop-up
blocker, simply check the box labeled "Enable pop-up blocker" then
click OK. We suggest also checking "Block floating Flash-Ads", as
Flash based ads generally take a long time to download due to their
size (thus decreasing the performance of your connection). To add a
site to the white list, click on the "White List" tab, click "add"
and type in the domain name or site URL. For example, you could add
Cybercom to the white list by adding either "txcyber.com" or
"http://www.txcyber.com" to the White List. |

Limitations:
There are a few limitations with this technology. Browsers other than Internet Explorer are not supported, and some Anti-Virus software packages may not update properly. In general, any incompatibilities with the SlipStream software can be worked around by disabling the software as needed. There are also some things that this software does not do such as accelerate SMTP or FTP traffic. Please also keep in mind that the performance of this software depends on the sites that you visit, and will vary greatly with the content you are viewing. Heavily image laden sites will not be accelerated as much as sites which are mainly text. Also, part of the trade-off that this software makes to increase the speed of dialup connections is a reduction in image quality. You will notice a marked decrease in image resolution and clarity when using the SlipStream accelerator.
